What Is A Baxi Megaflo Boiler?

The Baxi Megaflo system boiler is a great choice for where you need high volumes of hot water and where that demand comes from several different outlets all at the same time. So that might be someone having a shower while the dishwasher is also on. A system boiler pre-heats the water which is then stored in a cylinder until it’s needed; that means it can then cope with those multiple demands.
While you’re keen to have your hot water and heating needs met, you may also want to ensure that your boiler meets the highest environmental and efficiency standards. With a 91% efficiency rating combined with an ErP A-rating for central heating, the Baxi Megaflow system meets that requirement with no problem.
Baxi Megaflo Boiler Models Explained

There are five different kW outputs available for this model ranging from 15kW right up to 32kW. We’ve picked out three to show how the Megaflo could be the right choice for a wide range of home sizes.
Baxi Megaflo 15
While this may be the lowest output in this model, it’s by no means underpowered. If you have up to 8 radiators in your home, then this one is likely to be a great fit.
Maxi Megaflo 24
This is the mid-range model with an output of 24kW. As a rough rule, each radiator needs around 1.5kW, so a home with 16 radiators is likely to be a good match for this one.

Baxi Megaflo 32
Ideal for the largest of homes, the Baxi Megaflow 32 is the most powerful of the range and will efficiently heat up to 20 radiators.
Baxi Megaflo System Compact GA
This is a new addition to the Baxi boiler replacement range and comes with the same choice of power options as the standard model. The big advantage to this model is that all versions, other than the 32kW, are small enough to be fitted into a kitchen cupboard.

Features And Benefits Of A Baxi Megaflo Boiler
The Baxi Megaflo is a powerful system which means that it can quickly provide hot water no matter the distance from the hot water tank or how many hot taps are on at the same time. It’s a model known to have high energy efficiency combined with very low fuel consumption resulting in much lower bills for the homeowner.
The Megaflo is also a favourite of the gas installers because many of the key components such as the pump and expansion tank, are built into the system. This then means a quick and straightforward installation process.
If you’ve ever looked at an array of buttons and dials on a boiler and wondered which one needs to be pressed for what, then you’ll love the ease of use of the Baxi Megaflo. There’s one control which selects off, reset and to turn the hot water and heating on. Then you have a display to show you the boiler output temperature and finally a dial to adjust the temperature of the central heating

Troubleshooting For Baxi Megaflo Problems
From time to time, all boilers experience issues. Sometimes, the Baxi Megaflo problems that occur might be things which you’ll be able to fix yourself without needing to call in an engineer. These include:
Frozen Condensate Pipe
The condensate pipe collects the liquid or ‘condensate’ which is produced through the production of heat within the boiler. Sometimes the pipe runs to a drain, but it might also run through a wall and into an external drain. When the temperature drops, the liquid can freeze blocking the drainage system.
This is an easy one to fix and just needs you to pour hot water over the pipe to defrost the ice blockage.
High Boiler Pressure
If the water pressure goes above 3.0 bar, it can be reduced by bleeding a radiator or draining some of the water out of the system. This is done through the drain point which is usually found underneath a radiator.
Low Boiler Pressure
If the system is losing pressure and shows a reading of below 1.0, then it will need to be repressurised. This is done by topping up the water via the fixed filling loop, which will then increase the pressure.

Boiler Locked
The boiler will lock if there is a problem which might interfere with its safe running. Turn the selector switch the ‘r’ position and hold in for five seconds to see if you’re able to reset the boiler.
Fault Codes
The fault code on the control panel will help you work out what the problem is and whether you can fix the issue yourself or whether you need to call out an engineer. These include:
E28 | Blocked condensate pipe | Check pipe for frozen water, then thaw with hot water |
E110 | Water system overheated | Reset the boiler |
E119 | Low Water Pressure | Top up the water via the filling loop |
E133 | Interruption of gas supply | Check the gas valve to ensure the supply hasn’t been turned off and then reset the boiler |
E160 | Faulty component | Call out engineer |
